Jiann Yih & Tracy There is a saying: ’never go into a business with friends’, then, what about insurance?
We have the same hesitation: how do we treat John when he becomes our insurance agent? Will money interests take over the relationship? Will the service-client relationship take a lower stage because of our friendship?
After we entrusted our financial planning with John, we realized that the way forward is to adopt the best of both worlds – that is, John advises us not only professionally as an agent, but also with a personal touch because of our existing friendship. We still treat each other as friends, we are accommodating with our times, and we share our food!
As for my children, John has known them since they were very young, and now in their teenage and young adult years, they have become friends with John too. They greet each other and chat spontaneously, much to my gladness, and it would be my greatest wish if John can be the financial adviser to my children too in time to come. |
